Forward Deployed AI Engineer | Enterprise AI | €150k

We’re hiring a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to help enterprise and PE-backed businesses turn AI opportunities into working products.

This is not a strategy-only role and it’s not a traditional software engineering role.

You’ll sit with clients, understand how their business actually works, identify where AI can create meaningful value, design the solution, build it yourself and get it into production.

You’ll work on problems where the answer isn’t obvious, the requirements are messy and success depends as much on adoption and business impact as it does on technical quality.

What you’ll own

• Work directly with senior client stakeholders and technical teams to understand workflows, pain points, constraints and opportunities
• Translate ambiguous business problems into clear AI use cases and technical solutions
• Design and build production-grade LLM, RAG, agentic and AI automation systems
• Make pragmatic architectural decisions across models, retrieval, orchestration, APIs, data, infrastructure, security, latency and cost
• Integrate AI solutions into existing enterprise applications, data platforms and operational workflows
• Build the evaluation, monitoring and feedback mechanisms needed to make AI systems reliable in production
• Work through failure modes, edge cases and human-in-the-loop processes rather than stopping at a successful demo
• Personally contribute significant amounts of code and technical implementation
• Identify patterns across client engagements and turn successful solutions into reusable capabilities

What we’re looking for

You’re an engineer who is comfortable moving between a client conversation and a codebase:

• Excellent Python and genuine hands-on development ability
• Experience building and deploying AI/ML systems in real-world environments
• Practical experience with LLMs, RAG, retrieval, agents or AI-powered applications
• Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, cloud infrastructure and enterprise systems
• The ability to design and explain end-to-end architectures and technical trade-offs
• Experience taking technical solutions beyond prototypes into reliable production systems
• Strong problem-solving skills when requirements are incomplete or ambiguous
• Previous external consulting or client-facing technical delivery experience — required
• Fluent German and English — required

You’ll stand out if you have

• Experience in an AI-native company, startup or high-growth technology environment
• Strong ML / data science foundations alongside software engineering
• Experience with AI evaluation, testing, observability or LLMOps
• Experience building production agentic systems and tool-using workflows
• Experience with modern AI frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex or similar
• Experience with enterprise transformation, technology consulting or value creation
• Experience working with PE-backed businesses or portfolio companies
• A strong technical or quantitative degree — TUM / LMU particularly welcome

You’ll work on some of the most interesting AI problems inside real businesses — where the technology is changing quickly, but the operational problems are very real.

You’ll have unusual ownership: from problem definition to architecture to code to production to measurable customer impact.

You’ll work closely with senior decision‑makers while remaining deeply technical and hands‑on.
