Senior Product Designer

Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history.

Key Responsibilities

• We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to design, prototype, and launch CivGov and Commercial Solutions and define how users interact with and derive insights from Planet’s satellite Earth Observation (EO) data.
• In this role, you will bridge the gap between Planet’s platform capabilities and valuable customer outcomes. With a relentless focus on the user, you will define user profiles, establish jobs-to-be-done, and design end-to-end user flows for high-value market opportunities. You will collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to decompose these workflows into scalable, reusable UX building blocks, ultimately crafting cohesive, customer-centric solutions.
• This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our Berlin or Haarlem office 3 days per week.

Requirements

• 6+ years designing complex SaaS or B2B products, taking projects from early ideation to launch.
• Bachelor’s degree in design or an equivalent field.
• End-to-end experience, in terms of taking projects from early ideation to live software, and iterating based on feedback.
• A solid portfolio displaying complex professional projects, your process, and the resulting impact.
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing, synthesizing findings into actionable improvements.
• A track record of designing sophisticated, data-heavy applications, ideally featuring AI-powered tools or geospatial data visualization.
• A solid core skillset: UX/UI, interaction design, rapid prototyping, accessibility, and visual design principles. Proficiency in Figma and enterprise design systems.
• Ability to work quickly in undefined and ambiguous environments.
• Experience with GIS, geospatial data, or remote sensing.
• An AI-native mindset, utilizing AI tools for creative ideation, design, or prototype generation.
• A track record of taking ownership to communicate and solve complex, systemic problems.
• Deep empathy for both end-users and internal stakeholders, expertly balancing usability with business needs.
• Experience thriving in growth-focused, highly collaborative team environments.
