Key Responsibilities

As an Associate Programme Officer, you’ll be an integral part of the Reporting and Engagement team. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Supporting Reporting and Engagement Work:
  • Maintain and enhance adaptation information and data portals, including social media platforms.
  • Prepare outreach materials such as infographics, brochures, videos, and presentations.
  • Contribute to adaptation aspects of Nationally Determined Contributions, Collective Progress, and Global Stocktake.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with stakeholders involved in adaptation work.
• Supporting the Work of the Adaptation Committee (AC):
  • Implement tasks related to awareness-raising, outreach, and information-sharing.
  • Prepare policy briefs, presentations, and other outreach materials.
  • Assist in organizing and servicing expert meetings, workshops, and other events.
  • Participate in international, regional, and national meetings and workshops as appropriate.
• Supporting the Intergovernmental Process:
  • Draft annotations, briefing and speaking notes, and background documentation.
  • Prepare first drafts of substantive technical analyses and documentation for negotiations.
  • Support co-facilitators during negotiation sessions and assist in drafting negotiating text, conclusions, and decisions.
• Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform additional job-related activities as needed to achieve the goals of the unit, subdivision, division, or secretariat.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in economics, social sciences, environmental studies, natural sciences, engineering, development studies, communications, or a related discipline. A first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted.
• Experience: At least two years of relevant professional experience in climate change, sustainable development, communications, or social issues, with strong communication, drafting, and organizational skills.
• Language Skills: Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
