WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Working as a Lead, Labor Relations Consultant, you will focus 50% on supporting (e.g. in planning and preparing) German LRs’ engagements covering both retail and corporate segments. For the other 50% the LR lead will support the broader EMEA implementation of enterprise programs/initiatives which require LRs’ involvement including the deployment of the EMEA LR Strategy.
You bring experience managing LR processes across distributed countries and are skilled at leading with influence and establishing cross-functional relationships to drive process adherence and alignment. You are proactive and have a deep understanding of German nuances and knowledge of sensing, cultural awareness, and brand connections. Well-developed industry knowledge and market insights are key.
- Degree in Employment Law in Germany
- Demonstrated HR experience managing social dialogue and relationships with WCs & Unions
- Experience working directly with Corporate and Retail Works Councils and Unions locally in an international organization
- Expertise in crisis management in relation to LRs issues e.g. strikes
- HR and/or legal experience in organizational transformation & restructure
- Strong project planning experience
- Fluent in German and English
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will work with the People Solutions Consulting team, the German-based business and HR team, and the Sr Principal Labor Relations based in the Netherlands in the LR space across country clusters, brands, and employee segments.
- Supporting the implementation of strategic initiatives which require prior LR engagement across EMEA
- Support the deployment of EMEA LRs strategic initiatives with guidance from the EHQ based Senior Principal Labor Relations for EMEA
- Owning the LR component of prioritized projects/initiatives for Germany (from e.g. business, HR roadmap), managing the end-to-end process by forming a project squad with relevant representatives, coordinating the project plan and key deliverables, tracking progress and ensuring stakeholders are informed
- Driving the long-term German LR engagements in partnership with the Business and the Director, People Solutions Consulting Central. The LR lead would align the strategy (and supporting work plan) with relevant stakeholders – e.g. line manager, Director, People Solutions Consulting Central, business stakeholders, Sr. Principal Labor Relations, COEs
- Identify critical engagement points with the LR bodies and key stakeholders
- Define timelines of each process and key deliverables
- Managing LRs escalations, including resolving inquiries and transactions and escalating the number that cannot be resolved to the appropriate partners
- Proactively building internal and external LRs knowledge. Maintaining in-depth knowledge of country LR requirements.
- Managing stakeholder relationships by building effective connections with Unions, Works Councils, Business Leaders on the ground, COEs and EHQ teammates, external authorities, and others.
