As a Gateway Manager at Nippon Express Europe GmbH, you will play a crucial role in our logistics operations. With our expansion in the competitive logistics industry, we are looking for a skilled professional to manage and enhance the movement of goods through our gateway facilities. The role involves managing operations teams, improving productivity, and implementing a strategic vision across the Gateway/EMEA region.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing the operational activities at the gateway, ensuring that all processes related to air freight are carried out efficiently and smoothly. You will liaise with various stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and internal teams to enhance service delivery and operational performance. Your expertise will help in optimizing logistics solutions to meet customer demands and drive satisfaction.
- Enhance the gateway processes by identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage and drive the performance of the Gateway Operations team
- Monitor KPIs and prepare performance reports for management review
- Address operational issues effectively and in a timely manner
- Direct and control transactional, customs, and handling activities
- Develop and implement the strategy for the Gateway/EMEA region in accordance with the organization\’s business objectives
- Formulate, present, and manage the Gateway/EMEA region business plan and budget
- Lead and train staff to ensure adherence to company policies and efficiency in operations
- Ensure compliance with internal and external standards and regulations
Requirements
- Proven experience in logistics or freight forwarding, preferably in a gateway or similar operational role
- Bachelor\’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred
- Strong knowledge of air freight processes, customs regulations, and compliance
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong leadership and teamwork capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
- Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous
- Proficiency in logistics management software and MS Office, especially Excel for reporting and analysis
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues and develop solutions
- Customer-focused approach with a commitment to service excellence
