Job Overview
As the Regional Deputy Health & Safety Manager, you will work closely with the Regional Project Director to ensure the effective implementation of health and safety protocols across EU schools. You’ll lead on-site audits, track compliance, deliver safety training, and promote emergency preparedness. Your role will involve leveraging tools like SPHERA to ensure risk mitigation and fostering a culture of safety for everyone in our school communities.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Supporting schools in maintaining compliance with both local regulations and NAE’s global health and safety standards.
- Performing risk assessments, assigning corrective actions, and ensuring timely resolution of identified issues.
- Assisting with fire safety, crisis planning, and emergency response initiatives to create a safe environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- On-Site Audits & Risk Management
- Conduct on-site H&S audits at EU campuses, identifying risks, and providing actionable feedback to schools.
- Prepare detailed reports with recommendations for improvements, tracking the resolution of corrective actions.
- Data Monitoring & Compliance
- Collect and analyse health and safety data, ensuring schools adhere to self-assessment and safety protocols.
- Assist in preparing monthly H&S reports, highlighting key findings, trends, and areas of improvement.
- Training & Awareness
- Deliver engaging health and safety training to school staff, tailored to their unique needs and environments.
- Continuously update training materials to reflect current regulations, policies, and best practices.
- System Management
- Support schools in using SPHERA for task management, compliance tracking, and reporting.
- Troubleshoot system issues, provide guidance to users, and recommend improvements to enhance usability.
- Emergency Preparedness & Response
- Oversee fire drills, evacuation exercises, and lockdown planning in collaboration with school teams.
- Assist in developing emergency response plans suited to the risks of each school.
Qualifications
- Relevant certifications in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally in a school environment.
- Solid understanding of H&S regulations, risk management, and emergency planning.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in SPHERA or similar H&S management systems.
- Effective communicator, capable of training diverse groups.
- Adaptable, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks across different locations.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the EU region.
