Your mission

north.iobuildsandoperatesthe Ocean DataPlatform(ODP) and the Ocean Data Processing Engine (ODPE) —togetheran Ocean Data Warehousethatletsmaritime,defenceandpublic-sectororganisationsmanage andprocessgeospatialandsensordataatscale.

Theprojectsthatdeliverthesesystemstocustomersaregettinglarger. Software,hardwareandcustomeroperationsarrivein the same plan, andthatplanhasto hold.WearebuildingupourPMO androllingoutonedeliveryprocessacrossallcustomerprojects—definedphases,defineddecisionpoints,definedartefacts.

AsProject Manager (F/M/D)youtakeonecustomerprojectathandoverand carry it toacceptance.Youplan it,yousteerit, andyouarethepersonthecustomercallswhensomethingmoves.

Reportingline:Youreportto the Chief Project Management Officer (CPMO).

Location:Kiel. Hybridworking,withcustomervisitsas theprojectrequires.

KeyResponsibilities

• TakeoveracustomerprojectathandoverfromSales andrunitthroughto finalacceptanceandtransitionintooperations.
• Buildaprojectplanthatreflectsreality—schedule,resources, budget — andkeepitcurrentwhenrealitychanges.
• Leadyourprojectteamprofessionally.Thereisnodisciplinaryreportinglineintothisrole.
• Prepareandrunthedecisionpointsofyourproject:handover, release,acceptance.Eachoneneedsadecisionand adocument.Youdeliverboth.
• Manage changeorders. Additionalworkhappenson thebasisof anorder, not ongoodwill.
• Escalateearly. Ariskyoureportthreeweeksbeforeitlandsisadecision; the sameriskon thedayitlandsisdamage.
• Keepprojectdataaccurate—status,effort,forecast. Thisdatafeedsourweeklydeliveryreportingand themonthlyreportto theleadershipteam.Ifitiswrong,westeerwrong.
• Be the operationalcounterpartforyourcustomer'sprojectmanagement,includingin theconversationsnobodyenjoys.
• Feedwhatyoulearnin theprojectbackintoourdeliveryprocess—whereitworksandwhereitdoesnot.

Your profile

Weshapetherolearoundtheperson.Threeyearsofprojectexperienceortendecideswhichprojectsyouget, notwhetherwetalk.

Qualifications& Experience

• Youhavecarriedresponsibilityforprojectswithexternalcustomers— notsupportedthem,carriedthem.

• Youcanbuildaprojectplanthatsurvivescontactwitha realproject, andyoukeepitcurrentagainstresistance.
• Youseethecommercialconsequence:whatadelaycosts,whatascopeincreasecosts, whopaysfor it.
• Youwriteclearly. Adecisionthatisnotdocumenteddidnot happen.
• German and English,bothfluent.Ourteamworksin English; a largepartofourcustomersdo not.
• A security clearance (Sicherheitsüberprüfung nach SÜG) may be required for this position and therefore your eligibility is a key criteria.

DesiredCompetencies

• Experience inprojectsthatcombinesoftwareandhardware.
• Workingknowledgeof Asanaorcomparabletooling.
• Familiaritywithgeospatial,hydrographicoroceanographicdataisoptional.

Whatthisroleisnot

• Not aprocessrole. Thedeliveryprocessisownedby the PMO.Youworkinsideit andlearnit on theproject—youarenot theoneintroducingit.
• Not areportingjob.Ifyoulikebuildingstatusslidesbutavoidtheconversationbehindthem,thiswill notwork.
