Location: Basel, Switzerland Role Purpose: We are seeking a highly motivated Expert Analytical Scientist with experience in Oligonucleotides analytics to join our Analytical Research & Development (ARD) team. ARD is part of the Technical R&D Department within Development and plays a pivotal role in the characterization and analysis of Drug Substances and Drug Products throughout the transition from discovery to commercial production. Major Accountabilities
Independently design, plan, execute, interpret, and report analytical activities for Oligonucleotides (DS and/or DP) using cutting‑edge analytical sciences and technologies such as method development, validation, transfer, stability, release testing, and formulation development analytics in accordance with established timelines and quality standards. Contribute actively to lab activities, plan own work and adjust efforts to meet goals. Apply analytical practices, concepts and processes specifically to Oligonucleotides, performing complex tasks with minimal supervision. Develop and implement new technologies and troubleshoot analytical methods and instrumentation issues, providing scientific rationale and solutions. Foster and share best practices, provide robust scientific and technical expertise within the analytical project team, among analytical scientists, and throughout the organization. Write and review analytical documents (raw data, validation protocol, SOPs); maintain good documentation and lab practices during laboratory activities. Participate in planning and implementation of laboratory experiments for designated projects including activity scheduling, experiment monitoring and data analysis. Exhibit strong team spirit and promote knowledge exchange. Work according to appropriate SOPs, Quality Directives, Health and Safety regulations and internal Novartis guidelines. Assist with audits and health‑authority inspections, ensuring no major findings in assigned areas. Minimum Requirements
Master degree in analytical chemistry or equivalent and a minimum of 2–3 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Strong experience in liquid chromatography (IPRP, AEX, HILIC) is a prerequisite. Demonstrated experience in analytical technologies such as Coulometry for water determination, UV‑Spectrometry for assay or melting‑temperature determination, and colorimetry/turbidimetry is an asset. Prior experience in oligonucleotide analytics is an advantage. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Knowledge of GMP and general regulatory and quality expectations. Fluent in English (oral and written). Ability to perform in a highly dynamic environment.
