The Statutory Accounting Manager is responsible for executing accounting processes and ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, Novartis Accounting Manual (NAM), local statutory and tax regulations, and Novartis policies. This role involves maintaining systems, documentation, compliance, and reporting, as well as leading continuous improvement projects to enhance end-to-end processes.
The manager provides quality services to Novartis Group entities, safeguarding company assets through strict controls over financial transactions and ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Manage performance and service delivery, acting as the single point of contact and subject matter expert for accounting topics, policies, and processes for CFO, authorities, and auditors.
- Deliver services at expected levels with a focus on customer needs, escalating issues as necessary.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and external requirements, responding promptly and implementing process or system updates to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with the Novartis Corporate Centers (NOCC), FRA Technical Accounting, and business colleagues to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
- Proactively challenge existing processes and recommend fact-based improvements.
- Support ongoing process improvements and changes for efficiency, including sub-ledgers.
- Engage with key stakeholders, including accounting authorities and auditors.
Qualifications
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a Certified Accountant qualification; Big 4 audit experience is desirable.
- Proficiency in German and English (spoken and written).
- Extensive experience in finance, with expertise in managing financial shared services and performance-driven projects (e.g., ERP implementation).
- Strong background in statutory and IFRS accounting; ERP knowledge, with S4Hana preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a multinational environment with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
