To manage the day-to-day accounting and finance operations of the Europe site, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, statutory and tax compliance, budgeting, and effective internal controls.
Work closely with local site management, external accounting and tax consultants, and the Global Finance Centre in Shanghai to ensure reporting accuracy, compliance with local and Group requirements, and smooth execution of finance processes.
Support continuous improvement and standardization of finance processes in alignment with Group finance objective
Responsibilities
- (1) Accounting & Finance Operations
- Handle the day-to-day accounting operations of the Europe site, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, fixed assets, inventory and general ledger.
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with Group accounting policies and applicable local requirements.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, disposal, asset register maintenance and periodic verification.
- Support inventory accounting, including inventory valuation, aging analysis, stock reconciliation and periodic verification.
- Monitor bank balances and support cash management activities.
- Prepare weekly cash flow reports; perform bank, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable balances and support customer collection and supplier payment activities.
- (2) Month-End Closing & Financial Reporting
- Perform monthly and year-end closing activities and prepare financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB).
- Prepare Group reporting packages, accounting schedules and SAP BPC data inputs in accordance with Group IFRS reporting requirements.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Ensure reporting deadlines and Group accounting requirements are consistently met.
- (3) Statutory, Tax & Audit Support
- Coordinate with external tax advisors, statutory auditors and accounting consultants on statutory reporting, corporate tax, VAT, transfer pricing and other regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and provide accounting records, schedules and supporting information required for statutory filings, tax compliance and annual audits.
- Follow up on audit and tax queries and coordinate with relevant internal and external parties to ensure timely resolution.
- (4) Internal Control
- Maintain and apply effective finance controls in accordance with Group policies, Delegation of Authority, finance SOPs and local statutory requirements, and highlight control gaps or improvement opportunities to management.
- (5) Budgeting and Forecasting Support
- Support the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes for the Europe site.
- Prepare budget versus actual analysis and highlight significant variances for management review.
- (6) Process Improvement
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of finance systems and process automation initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to simplify and standardize finance processes.
- Support the implementation of Group finance policies, processes and systems at the Europe site.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent) preferred
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, including financial reporting, month-end closing, statutory compliance and audit support.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Sound working knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and relevant German statutory requirements.
- Familiarity with German tax matters and experience working with external tax/accounting advisors.
- Working knowledge of IFRS and Group reporting requirements is preferred.
- Good understanding of accounting processes and internal controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- Experience with DATEV and/or SAP is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to meet reporting deadlines and coordinate with local and overseas stakeholders.
Language
- Fluency in written and spoken German and English is required for day-to-day accounting activities, business communication and reporting.
- Proficiency in spoken Mandarin Chinese is required to support regular coordination with the Global Finance Centre in Shanghai and other Group stakeholders.
