Overview
In this role, you lead performance engineering for SAP HANA on Nutanix AHV/AOS, driving benchmark qualification and certification for SAP hardware. You will manage a remote team, optimize configurations across bare-metal and virtualized setups, and collaborate with SAP to align Nutanix outcomes with SAP KPI targets. You shape best practices, diagnose root causes across the stack, and contribute to successful SAP submissions. This is a hands-on leadership position at the intersection of performance, virtualization, and enterprise software.

- Lead a remote team and manage subcontractors to benchmark SAP HANA and related SAP components on bare-metal servers
- Virtualize similar configurations on Nutanix AHV to compare performance with bare metal
- Deploy, troubleshoot, and document Nutanix best practices for SAP workloads
- Identify and implement strategies to improve SAP HANA performance on new versions and higher-density hardware
- Collaborate with core engineering to diagnose root causes and apply code fixes
- Set up SAP Linux lab infrastructure in Walldorf and manage dependencies
- Build relationships with SAP stakeholders and align Nutanix goals with SAP strategy
- Guide teams in SAP test harness tools and validation/certification suites
- Analyze validation results against KPI thresholds and drive root-cause fixes
- Configure SAP HANA parameters, OS tuning, and virtualization topology
- Automate hardware/software deployments; explore AI-driven automation possibilities
- Understand impact of CPU/memory innovations on SAP workloads and evolve AHV/AOS accordingly
- Support SAP HANA scale-up/scale-out architectures and related configurations
- Produce documentation for SAP submissions (Notes, best practices, test plans, KPI reports)
- Develop sizing guidelines, configurations, and reference architectures for SAP HANA on Nutanix AHV/AOS
- Assist customers and Nutanix sellers on SAP HANA large deals
- Collaborate with hardware OEMs on SAP HANA validations with Nutanix
- Assist with Nutanix support escalations
Zentrale Anforderungen
- 5+ years in SAP HANA infrastructure or general database performance engineering
- At least 2 years focused on virtualized HANA
- Deep Linux OS experience
- Experience with Nutanix HCI
- Performance monitoring tools
- Hands-on SAP HANA test harness validation and KPI interpretation
- Working knowledge of SAP HANA, SAP HANA hardware directory, and SAP certification requirements for HCI and virtualization
- Strong Linux performance skills (SLES/RHEL for SAP, including hugepages, NUMA, SNC2, I/O schedulers)
- Practical virtualization performance experience (CPU pinning, NUMA alignment, vCPU/pCPU ratios, memory reservation)
- Nutanix AHV/AOS experience strongly preferred (ESXi/KVM optional with proof of expertise)
- Understanding of distributed storage concepts (latency, replication, data locality)
- Scripting for automation (Python, Bash) and familiarity with Ansible/Terraform
- Excellent communication skills in English and German
