Aiglon College

Head of PE and Sport

The Director of Aiglon College invites applications for the role of Head of PE and Sport.

Located in Chesières (Vaud, Switzerland), Aiglon College is a not-for-profit, international boarding and day school offering a distinctive, world-class education in a stunning alpine setting. There are over 500 students, representing more than 65 nationalities, following the International GCSE (IGCSE) and International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB Diploma) programmes. Aiglon represents an evolving educational community that places the whole child at the centre of everything it does. Benefiting from unique relationships with outstanding educators, all students enjoy a strong academic foundation, learning in exceptional facilities set against the timeless beauty of the Swiss Alps. The School remains true to its founding mission of ensuring the balanced development of mind, body and spirit.

Reporting to the Director of Character Education and working closely with colleagues across the School, the Head of PE and Sport will provide both strategic and operational leadership of Aiglon's physical education and sporting programme. This is an exciting opportunity to lead an important area of school life at a pivotal stage in its development, shaping the future direction of PE and sport within one of the world's most distinctive boarding schools.

The successful candidate will provide clear leadership to a broad and talented department, bringing cohesion, purpose and a shared vision across both curriculum and co-curricular provision. They will lead the continued development of the PE curriculum, ensuring that it reflects contemporary best practice whilst remaining true to Aiglon's educational philosophy. They will also play a key role in strengthening the integration of sports and exercise science within the department and reviewing structures, systems and staffing to support the delivery of a high-quality, sustainable programme.

Aiglon's sporting provision encompasses major team sports including football, basketball and volleyball, alongside the many opportunities presented by the School's exceptional alpine setting. The successful candidate will understand the distinctive rhythm and character of sport at Aiglon, where skiing forms an integral part of school life and creates a unique sporting environment.

The Head of PE and Sport will be a visible, collaborative and highly organised leader with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust across a diverse community of students, colleagues and parents. They will be an outstanding communicator, capable of balancing strategic thinking with effective operational delivery, and will possess the judgement and resilience required to thrive in a complex boarding school environment.

While experience within school sport is important, this role is principally one of leadership, curriculum development and exceptional organisational skills, rather than specialist coaching expertise. The successful candidate will be recognised for their ability to develop people, lead teams, manage complexity and drive educational excellence, rather than solely for coaching or sporting achievements. Experience of IB programmes, sports science and comparable boarding school environments would be advantageous, although applications are welcomed from outstanding candidates able to demonstrate transferable expertise from similarly ambitious educational settings.
