Overview
In this role you will support spacecraft development and mission studies by advancing space debris and MMOD analyses. You will work with the Propulsion & Environment Analysis Team to evolve analysis methods and contribute to standards, studies, and proposals. The position involves independent work across topics, from modelling to risk assessment, within a mission-driven space program. This is an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge debris analysis and to engage with the broader space debris community.

- Hypervelocity impact analyses for spacecraft missions
- Support to shielding design activities and related modelling
- Development, validation, and application of next-generation MMOD methodologies
- Support to vulnerability and risk assessment activities
- Contribution to internal and external R&D programmes
- Support the evolution of DarKnight 2.0 capabilities
- Contribution to future ESA studies, customer projects, and standardisation activities
- Support proposal preparation and technical discussions with customers and agencies

Zentrale Anforderungen
- Completed degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable qualification
- Scientific programming skills, Python preferred
- Knowledge of space debris modelling (asset)
- Interest in spacecraft environment engineering and related disciplines
- Ability to work independently and adapt to diverse topics
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Very good communication and presentation skills
- High proficiency in English as working language
