(Senior-) Materials & Processes Engineer (m/f/d)

Your Tasks:

  • Your focus will be the engineering consultancy, technical risk mitigation and assurance concerning materials and processes applied in the next generations of optical instruments.
  • You will join an international team also responsible for the assessment of material and process suitability regarding their application in the space environment.
  • You will review and assess manufacturing, inspection and test methods and procedures for building and qualifying space equipment and systems.
  • You will be part of the technical support teams in case of non-conformances or proposal evaluation.
  • You will regularly take part in or conduct technical reviews regarding materials and processes for the building blocks of future, smart space solutions.

Your Qualifications:

  • Master or PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a comparable qualification.
  • Several years’ experience in the area of Materials and Processes Control (MMPP) in Space applications.
  • Knowledge of the applicable ECSS-ST-Q-70 standards.
  • Solid expertise in Metallurgy, Additive Manufacturing, soldering or welding topics are a clear advantage.
  • Interdisciplinary mindset, independent and forward-looking way of working.
  • Flexibility, a high sense of responsibility, as well as the ability to work in an international team.
  • Confident personality and good negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel on business.
  • Fluent English and ability to communicate in German.
  • Structured, goal-oriented and self-dependent work.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.

Optional Skills:

  • Experience in Optical Engineering, Electronics Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, or Product Assurance in the space industry.
  • French language.
