In the Predevelopment Directorate we are working on mission and system designs for complete space missions and payloads or instruments for Earth observation, science, space transportation, exploration and robotics.
Your Tasks
- Lead of the elaboration of technical proposals (ESA, EC, DLR, commercial customers etc.) for Earth Observation space systems
- Analysis of customer, mission and system requirements (specifications, Statement of work etc.), including execution of a functional analysis, definition of a requirements tree and identification of proposed adaptations
- Execution of trade-offs, analysis and definition of mission and system architecture
- Contribution to the definition and design of space systems including mission and system design of the entire space system, subsystems and their specifications
- Lead and technical co-ordination of special departments and single subcontractors
Your Qualifications
- Completed studies (Diploma or Master) in aerospace engineering or equivalent qualification
- Several years of professional experience in satellite engineering projects, preferably in Phase 0 to B1
- Strong competencies in space mission design, satellite systems engineering and spacecraft subsystem design
- Profound knowledge of mission analysis
- Understanding of Earth Observation remote sensing principles (optical and microwave) would be an asset
- Good conceptual and analytical skills
- Experience with applicable standards (ECSS) is desirable
- Ability to devise creative solutions and think out-of-the-box
- High level of flexibility, willingness to work in international teams and ability to keep tight schedules
- High motivation, pro-active working approach and strong sense of responsibility
- Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills
- Fluency in both spoken and written (business) English
