Systems Engineer Manager (m/f/d)
OHB System AG is the lead company of ODIN’S EYE, a project on Space Based Missile Early Warning within the European Defence Fund. ODIN’S EYE aims at the development of a European Capability composed of LEO, MEO and GEO satellite systems including control and user ground segments. OHB is mainly responsible for the overall system-of-systems architecture, the LEO satellites, payloads and platforms. The project includes also substantial simulator activities and breadboard developments for sensors and on-board processing.
Your Tasks
- Organizing and leading the technical project team, including (sub-)system engineers from relevant technical departments
- Coordinating all technical aspects with the project manager
- Acting as the primary technical interface to the customer
- Defining system requirements and ensuring alignment across the project
- Coordinating all technical project requirements within the team, technical divisions, and relevant company processes
- Defining fundamental technical concepts (top-level system design) with the project team and technical departments to meet system requirements
- Defining, implementing, and monitoring technical project work packages—including schedules and costs—in alignment with contractual requirements and in coordination with the project manager
- Leading and organizing regular internal and external project reviews and checkpoints
- Managing and organizing Engineering Change Boards
- Evaluating and controlling the ongoing design and development process, including initiating independent analyses based on system requirements
- Assessing risks and problems, developing and implementing pragmatic solutions, and initiating corrective actions for significant deviations—including coordinating with the customer and implementing contract changes if needed
- Ensuring proper and timely preparation of LEOP (Launch and Early Orbit Phase) and IOT (In-Orbit Test), and leading related activities during these phases
- Facilitating technical information exchange and networking within the project team, internal technical departments, and external stakeholders
Your Qualifications
- Completed studies (e.g., PhD, Diploma, or Master’s) in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
- Proven experience as a technical lead in C/D/E space projects or large sub-projects
- Deep expertise in the conceptualization and design of spacecraft, space equipment, space payloads (instruments), and their subsystems
- Strong background in multiple Systems Engineering fields
- Ability to adapt to technical challenges with flexibility
- Strong teamwork and cooperation skills
- Excellent communication abilities
- Natural authority and leadership presence
