MT Aerospace is a global leader in the aerospace industry. As a subsidiary of the international technology group OHB, we develop, manufacture and test essential components for major space programmes, including the European Ariane 6 launch vehicle, the American Space Launch System (Artemis mission) and other international launch systems. Our components are also used in satellites, spacecraft for lunar and Martian missions, space refuelling stations and passenger aircraft. Our customers include globally active companies and system integrators such as ESA, NASA, Airbus, ArianeGroup and Boeing.Using manufacturing technologies that are unique worldwide, we produce high-performance products from metal and fibre composites that are uncompromisingly focused on performance. These include large load-bearing structures, cryogenic tanks, lightweight components, and fuel and pressure tanks that combine maximum load-bearing capacity with minimum weight. We owe our success to the initiative and passion of our employees, who stand for innovation and progress. Our team of around 600 employees at our headquarters in Augsburg, in Bremen and at the European spaceport in Kourou (French Guiana) works every day to actively shape the future of space travel.
Space. Far away for most - soon very close for you. Become part of an industry of visionaries and pioneers and make a valuable contribution as a Head of Production Planning (m/f/d) to help the European launcher Ariane and other international launchers take off.
Your Tasks
Our manufacturing operations and external value creation are growing significantly. We are therefore establishing an independent planning function to translate the requirements of our programmes into robust production and materials plans. We are seeking a manager with in-depth experience in production planning, as well as very strong practical and systematic knowledge of SAP R/3. You will plan proactively based on future requirements and translate these into robust production, capacity and materials plans. You will combine strategic thinking with operational implementation and clearly communicate priorities, bottlenecks and courses of action across departmental boundaries.
- You lead and develop the planning team. You ensure that the team can draw on the planning expertise of individual team members and establish clear responsibilities, standards and line-ups.
- You review and consolidate the requirements approved by the programmes. You manage changes to plans and priorities by applying binding rules and making transparent decisions.
- You are responsible for the Master Production Schedule (MPS). You analyse capacities, materials, stock levels and bottlenecks across the planning horizons and develop scenarios for ramp-up.
- You manage Material Requirements Planning (MRP), assess exceptions and, in collaboration with Purchasing, Production and the data managers, ensure the quality of the planning data.
- You draw up a production plan at weekly intervals, verified for both materials and capacity, hand it over to production control and use their feedback to drive improvements.
- You provide the supply perspective for S&OP. You highlight bottlenecks, risks and options for action to facilitate cross-functional decision-making and implement agreed priorities.
- You use SAP and MicroStrategy to generate key performance indicators on planning stability, material availability, capacity and backlogs. Deviations lead to root cause analysis and verifiable measures.
- You further develop the planning process based on the standard SAP R/3 functions. Working with SCM Excellence and IT, you improve planning rules, MRP parameters and data quality, and evaluate digital planning tools, automation and AI.
Your Qualifications
- Ideally, you will have completed a relevant degree. A comparable qualification with sound practical planning experience is also acceptable.
- You have several years’ experience in production or supply chain planning within an industrial organisation and are familiar with complex manufacturing processes, long lead times and material dependencies.
- You possess in-depth practical knowledge of S&OP, MPS, MRP, as well as material and capacity planning, and are able to derive an actionable production plan from this.
- You have very strong practical and systematic knowledge of SAP R/3, particularly in PP/MRP and at the relevant MM interfaces.
- You make decisions based on figures, data and facts, are confident in using BI tools and can utilise MicroStrategy for reporting and planning control.
- You think strategically and act operationally: you identify future bottlenecks, develop alternatives and, where necessary, resolve critical planning issues yourself.
- You lead with clarity and authority, and communicate planning assumptions, conflicting objectives and decisions clearly to programme managers, production, procurement and management.
- You enjoy further developing processes and systems and translating practical knowledge into standards that can be shared across the organisation.
