Operational Buyer - German & English - Contract - Zurich
We're currently supporting a leading organisation in the Swiss infrastructure and utilities sector as they look to bring in an experienced Operational Buyer to join their procurement team on an initial 4-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong operational procurement experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, supporting purchasing activities while collaborating closely with category management and key business stakeholders. The Role
You'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of procurement activities across an assigned category, acting as a key point of contact for purchasing requirements and supporting strategic sourcing initiatives where required. Working alongside experienced procurement professionals, you'll play an important role in ensuring procurement processes remain efficient, compliant and commercially effective. Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operational procurement activities across your assigned category. Support category strategy execution and strategic sourcing initiatives. Raise and manage purchase orders, invoices and supplier payments. Assist with supplier tenders (RfX processes), contract administration and supplier reviews. Maintain procurement systems and ensure data accuracy across purchasing platforms. Monitor supplier performance and identify risks relating to pricing, delivery schedules and capacity. Produce procurement reporting and KPI tracking. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand purchasing requirements and deliver an excellent procurement service. What We're Looking For
Previous experience in an Operational Buyer or Purchasing role. Strong understanding of end-to-end procurement processes. Experience working with ERP/procurement platforms such as SAP, Ariba, Oracle or similar. Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail. Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a busy operational environment. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills. Fluent English and German. Nice to Have
Procurement qualifications such as CIPS. Experience with digital procurement platforms. Additional European language skills. Contract Details
