Job Title: Application Cloud Engineer
Duration: Immediate start until the end of March 2027
Location: 40% on site in Baden, Switzerland (60% remote)
Background
To ensure a timely migration to Azure for all AO&L applications, we require an experienced Azure expert to support our application owners in the company-wide Azure migration project.
Tasks/Responsibilities
- The Cloud engineer will have a key role in bridging between application owners and infrastructure team.
- Support application owners in the migration of their applications
- Assess existing on-prem applications and their underlying infrastructure, translate both into suitable Azure target architectures following internal guidelines
- Configure and validate networking, firewall rules, access management, security controls, monitoring, backup and operational readiness in collaboration with infrastructure engineers
- Deploy and maintain Azure resources using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible)
- Support application testing, defect resolution, cutover activities and post-migration stabilization
- Work closely with application owners, infrastructure engineers, security and platform teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement of migration patterns, infrastructure-as-code modules and deployment processes
- Provide technical guidance and help coordinate activities across the involved teams
Experience - Skills/Experience Required
- 5+ years of experience in Azure engineering, cloud infrastructure or application-focused cloud migration
- Proven experience migrating applications from on-premises Windows Server environments to Azure or comparable private-cloud environments
- Strong hands‑on experience with Azure services, landing-zone principles, networking, identity and access management, security and monitoring
- Practical experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform/Ansible), including reusable modules, state management and controlled deployments
- Understanding of application dependencies, deployment processes, release management and operational handover
- Effective stakeholder communication and teamwork in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Fluent English and good professional German are mandatory
Experience - Additional skills that would be considered as plus:
- Experience in the energy, utilities or energy-trading sector
- Azure certifications
- Project management skills
