  • Your Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Head of Design Control and serving as an integral member of the Design Control team, Your responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure compliance of materials used in medical devices by providing technical expertise and developing robust material compliance processes.
  • Manage material compliance activities and data across cross-functional teams to support sustainable product development and minimize environmental impact.
  • Represent EMEA R&D within Olympus global and regional networks to share best practices, drive harmonization and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and interpret material compliance regulations including Ro HS, REACH, SVHC, CLP, CMR, Proposition 65, TSCA, PFAS, SCIP and Conflict Minerals (CMRT).
  • Assess the impact of new regulations on product design and coordinate the collection of compliance data.
  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve material compliance processes and databases supporting product development and lifecycle management.
  • Contribute to product design activities to ensure successful material compliance certification.
  • Deliver training and technical guidance to engineering teams on material compliance requirements.
  • Lead material compliance projects while collaborating closely with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, EHS, ESG and Business Units.
  • Participate in external industry working groups to anticipate future regulatory changes and contribute to best practices.
  • Act as the internal technical expert for material compliance, supporting tender requests and advising management on emerging regulatory trends.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, authorities, external institutes and technical partners.
  • Work in accordance with the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) and comply with GDP and GMP requirements.
  • You Will Thrive In This Role If You Have
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry or a related technical discipline.
  • Several years of experience in a regulated industrial environment such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, electronics, automotive or aerospace.
  • Practical experience managing material compliance requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently while coordinating multiple stakeholders across international teams.
  • A genuine interest in environmental regulations and sustainable product development.
  • Experience in the medical device industry is an advantage but is not essential.
  • Your competencies
  • We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong collaboration skills.
  • Ideally, You Bring
  • Solid knowledge of global material compliance regulations such as REACH, Ro HS, PFAS, SCIP, TSCA, CLP, SVHC, CMR and Conflict Minerals (CMRT).
  • Good understanding of sustainable materials, hazardous substances and environmental compliance.
  • The ability to analyse complex technical and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions.
  • Experience developing compliant processes, documentation and data management systems.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear communication skills with the confidence to advise engineers, project teams and senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to work effectively in a multicultural and international environment.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe and internationally as business needs require.
