The Schaufler Lab@TU Dresden, a joint project of the TU Dresden University of Technology and the Schaufler Foundation, is offering its Artist-in-Residence position for the year 2026. The call invites artists or artist groups to apply to its six-month residency at the interface of art and science. The residency runs during 2026, with a solo exhibition in autumn 2026.
The central theme in this funding phase (2024-2027) is ‘DataWorlds. Sociotechnical and cultural syntheses of new realities’, exploring technical and cultural mediations of reality through data and their significance for society and the culture of objects.
The programme supports artists to develop and realise an artwork or project engaging with the theme; to cooperate with scientists and scholars; to participate in lectures, workshops and a guest seminar; and to produce a solo exhibition with an artist book.
Applicants should be internationally active artists or artist groups from fields such as media art, conceptual art, performance etc. They must have completed relevant international artistic projects, taken part in established international exhibitions, have a clear artistic concept, and show interest in working in transdisciplinary teams. Proficiency in English or German is required.
Selected artists receive:
- Access to a competitive array of institutes and workshops for artistic research
- A stipend of 3,000 EUR (net) a month for 6 months
- Production support of up to 10,000 EUR
- Solo exhibition at the Gallery of the Office for Academic Heritage of TUD in fall 2026 with an artist book by a respected fine arts publishing house (Sandstein Verlag, Dresden)
