Our client is a pan-European renewable energy investment and project development company. Its portfolio spans solar PV, battery storage, data centre development and onshore wind across several European markets. The team covers the full investment lifecycle, from origination and development through financing and construction to asset management. The company is part of an established international group with a history of more than six decades.
As part of its growth plan, the company is establishing its finance function in Frankfurt and is looking for a Head of Finance to build and lead it. Working directly with the CEO, you set up reporting, compliance and governance standards that meet the requirements of a listed company under German and EU rules.
The role grows with the company. The start is deliberately hands-on: opening bank accounts, setting up entities, working with counterparties and running the first closings yourself. As the group and the team expand, operational tasks move to the team and your focus shifts to financial strategy, capital markets and the leadership of group finance, with the prospect of growing into the CFO role.
Tasks
- Build the financial reporting cycle across the group's international project companies, including IFRS accounting and consolidation
- Close the consolidated accounts, steer the external audit and deliver reporting in line with BaFin requirements
- Ensure compliance with the Market Abuse Regulation and support Investor Relations on financial disclosures
- Set up the finance infrastructure of new entities, from bank accounts and payment processes to liquidity and cash management
- Support business cases and negotiations with counterparties, including utilities
- Build and lead the finance team and, over time, take ownership of planning, financial models and debt and equity financings, as a member of the Investment Committee and the counterpart to boards, investors and analysts
Requirements
- Experience as head of finance, accounting or controlling, or as finance director, ideally at a publicly listed company
- Trained accountant or equivalent, hands-on in German GAAP and IFRS, with a track record of consolidated closings for external audit
- Familiarity with BaFin requirements, the Market Abuse Regulation and the German Corporate Governance Code
- Experience building or scaling a finance function; exposure to capital raising, financial modelling, renewable energy or project finance is an advantageOur client is a pan-European renewable energy investment and project development company.
