Senior Data Processing Assistant (GS-5)
Principal Functions
Reporting to the Head, Documents, Registration and Archiving Section and in accordance with the OPCW Core Values of Integrity, Professionalism and Respect for Diversity/Gender Equality, the Senior Data Processing Assistant performs the following duties:
- Process incoming correspondence, including registration, indexing and updating databases;
- Capture declarations and other verification related information as well as all classified information in relevant records management systems;
- Contribute to the refinement of registration procedures and provide related support to other users;
- Input into and validate declarations stored in the Verification Information System (VIS);
- Receive/hand-over verification-related documents from/to Member States;
- Update registration and inspection related databases, generate reports, and make them available for other users in the Verification Division;
- Index and process hard copies of declarations and prepare the information required by Member States.
Knowledge and Experience
Education
Essential
High school diploma or equivalent diploma of higher secondary education.
Desirable
- Additional training in information processing;
- Knowledge of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and its declaration requirements.
Experience
Essential
- At least four years of progressively responsible related experience;
- Strong information management, record keeping and archival knowledge.
Desirable
Work experience within an international organisation would be an asset.
Skills and Abilities (key competencies)
- Advanced skills in using modern personal computer equipment and IT software are essential, including in-depth knowledge of Windows-based word processing, database and spreadsheet applications;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong analytical skills;

- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure, efficiently and independently, within set, tight deadlines;
- Good planning and organisational skills;

Language Requirements
Fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is desirable.
