Principal Functions
Under the general direction of Head, Support Services and in accordance with the OPCW Core Values of Integrity, Professionalism and Respect for Diversity/Gender Equality, the Driver performs the following duties:
- Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by:
- Driving office vehicles for the transport of OPCW, other high-ranking officials and visitors and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items;
- Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport including visa and customs formalities arrangement when required;
- Provision of clerical assistance to the Administration Unit for registry-related and administrative issues.
Knowledge and Experience
Education- Essential: High School Diploma or equivalent diploma of higher secondary education (High School Certificate in combination with significant relevant experience as a driver may be accepted in lieu of the High School Diploma).
- Current driving licence for categories B through to E.
- Essential:
- At least three years of experience as a professional driver with a safe driving record;
- Extensive professional driving experience within The Hague and throughout Netherlands and to Belgium;
- Experience using larger passenger vehicles such as mini van, mini van plus trailer and a sixteen-person bus;
- Availability to undertake driving duties outside of normal official hours including weekends.
Skills and Abilities (key competencies)
- Ability to undertake minor vehicle repair;
- Ability to work harmoniously in an international environment;
- Tact, discretion and diplomacy;
- Availability to undertake driving duties outside of normal official hours including weekends;
- Computer literacy in particular the ability to use e-mail;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Professional appearance and manner.
Language Requirements
Fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is desirable.
