- Job Responsibilities
Product strategy & Innovation
- Own the strategic direction and lifecycle management of the assigned product portfolio to drive sustainable business growth.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and application expert for the assigned product portfolio.
- Develop and execute the product roadmap based on customer needs, market trends, competitive intelligence, and business objectives.
- Identify and prioritize new product opportunities by analyzing portfolio gaps, unmet clinical needs, market dynamics, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape.
- Capture and translate the Voice of the Customer into actionable product strategies and innovation initiatives.
- Develop robust business cases to support new product development, portfolio investments, and strategic initiatives.
- Conduct market assessments and opportunity analyses to identify growth opportunities across existing and adjacent markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), clinicians, distributors, and strategic customers to generate insights and support product innovation.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activities, reimbursement, and evolving customer needs to continuously refine portfolio strategy.
- Recommend portfolio optimization initiatives, including product rationalization, line extensions, and lifecycle management opportunities.
Product Development
- Lead cross‑functional product development projects from concept through commercialization, ensuring alignment with customer needs, business objectives, and corporate strategy.
- Define product requirements and value propositions based on market insights, customer feedback, and clinical evidence.
- Partner closely with R&D, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and local Sales and Marketing teams throughout the product development process.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with commercial and financial objectives.
- Drive stage‑gate activities, ensuring sound decision‑making throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Support clinical evidence generation and product validation activities as needed to strengthen product differentiation and market adoption.
Commercialisation and International market support
- Develop commercial strategies, including product positioning, value propositions, pricing recommendations, and go‑to‑market plans.
- Lead international product launch planning and coordinate cross‑functional launch readiness activities to ensure successful market introductions.
- Partner with local Sales and Marketing teams to adapt international strategies to local market needs while maintaining consistent brand positioning.
- Support internal product training and education initiatives for sales and marketing teams and key stakeholders.
- Represent the company at industry congresses, customer meetings, advisory boards, and other professional events.
Portfolio Performance
- Monitor portfolio performance using key business metrics, including revenue growth, market share, product vitality, profitability, launch performance, and time‑to‑market.
- Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to develop product forecasts that support production planning, inventory management, and successful product launches.
- Evaluate product performance and recommend corrective actions or strategic adjustments based on market feedback and business results.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Life Sciences.
- 8–10+ years of product management experience within the Medical Device or Life Sciences industry, including upstream product management and new product development.
- Proven experience leading products from concept through launch in a global or international environment.
- Experience developing portfolio strategies, product roadmaps, business cases, and go‑to‑market plans.
- Orthopedics or Musculoskeletal experience is strongly preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Proven success in upstream product management and new product development.
- Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into product strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to identify customer needs through VOC activities and convert insights into innovative product solutions.
- Experience leading cross‑functional teams and influencing stakeholders in a global matrix organization.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with business intelligence or market research tools is an asset.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in an additional European language is a plus.
- Travel
Willingness to travel up to 30%, primarily within Europe.
