Overview

We are looking for an experienced Software Quality Assurance Engineer to support our client's team in testing high-performing, embedded Windows-based applications that integrate closely with hardware devices. This role focuses mainly on the software side of an SW/HW combined solution, ensuring seamless interaction with CAD systems and communication layers via software development kits (SDKs).

The position is a fixed-term maternity cover (12–18 months) starting in October, requiring 3 days onsite in Kaufering (CET timezone).

This role is ideal for someone passionate about manual and integration testing of embedded Windows software solutions that interact with hardware and CAD systems, and who enjoys working in a fast-paced, agile setup.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate, design, and execute test cases for ongoing releases and sprint backlogs.
  • Perform manual and white-box testing with a focus on embedded Windows desktop applications interacting with hardware (plane leveling device).
  • Validate integration points with CAD solutions and ensure proper functioning of CAD drawings and related features.
  • Cooperate with other test engineers, Test Managers, and system-level testers within SAFe/Agile frameworks.
  • Document test activities, track results, and report progress clearly to stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor junior testers in exploratory and context-driven testing approaches.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to analyze SDK connections and troubleshoot integration issues.
  • Maintain and update documentation for critical quality-related topics.
  • Stay informed about emerging testing methodologies, tools, and practices.

Requirements

Must-Have

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of QA/testing experience with strong manual testing expertise.
  • Proven experience with Windows desktop applications (C#, WPF) and embedded SW/HW interaction.
  • Familiarity with white-box testing approaches.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to derive positive/negative test scenarios.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum/SAFe environments.
  • Proficiency with test and bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Zephyr, TestRail).
  • Ability to work independently and in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with internal stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have

  • Understanding of CAD systems (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools) and how CAD drawings are structured.
  • Knowledge of the construction domain and digital layout software.
  • Experience with automation testing tools (Ranorex, Python), though focus will remain on manual testing.

Process & Logistics

  • Interview process: 2 rounds – Technical interview first, followed by Team Lead round.
  • Location: Kaufering, Germany (3 days onsite per week).
  • Duration: 12–18 months (maternity leave cover).
  • Working model: Hybrid, CET timezone.
