Overview
We are looking for an experienced Software Quality Assurance Engineer to support our client’s team in testing high-performing, embedded Windows-based applications that integrate closely with hardware devices. This role focuses mainly on the software side of an SW/HW combined solution , ensuring seamless interaction with CAD systems and communication layers via software development kits (SDKs).
The position is a fixed-term maternity cover (12–18 months) starting in October , requiring 3 days onsite in Kaufering (CET timezone) .
This role is ideal for someone passionate about manual and integration testing of embedded Windows software solutions that interact with hardware and CAD systems, and who enjoys working in a fast-paced, agile setup.
Responsibilities
- Estimate, design, and execute test cases for ongoing releases and sprint backlogs.
- Perform manual and white-box testing with a focus on embedded Windows desktop applications interacting with hardware (plane leveling device).
- Validate integration points with CAD solutions and ensure proper functioning of CAD drawings and related features.
- Cooperate with other test engineers, Test Managers, and system-level testers within SAFe/Agile frameworks.
- Document test activities, track results, and report progress clearly to stakeholders.
- Coach and mentor junior testers in exploratory and context-driven testing approaches.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to analyze SDK connections and troubleshoot integration issues.
- Maintain and update documentation for critical quality-related topics.
- Stay informed about emerging testing methodologies, tools, and practices.
Requirements
Must-Have
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of QA/testing experience with strong manual testing expertise.
- Proven experience with Windows desktop applications (C#, WPF) and embedded SW/HW interaction.
- Familiarity with white-box testing approaches.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to derive positive/negative test scenarios.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum/SAFe environments.
- Proficiency with test and bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Zephyr, TestRail).
- Ability to work independently and in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills for interaction with internal stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have
- Understanding of CAD systems (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools) and how CAD drawings are structured.
- Knowledge of the construction domain and digital layout software.
- Experience with automation testing tools (Ranorex, Python), though focus will remain on manual testing.
Process & Logistics
- Interview process : 2 rounds – Technical interview first, followed by Team Lead round.
- Location : Kaufering, Germany (3 days onsite per week).
- Duration : 12–18 months (maternity leave cover).
