About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Global Trade Compliance Center of Excellence – Classification, Screening & Free Trade Agreements, this role is responsible for executing product classification and country of origin activities supporting Thermo Fisher's global businesses.

What You'll Do

  • Product Classification Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Schedule B, Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN), and other applicable tariff nomenclatures. Research technical specifications to determine appropriate classifications. Maintain product classifications within SAP, OneSource, and related systems. Support classification reviews for new products, engineering changes, and acquisitions.
  • Country of Origin Determine and maintain Country of Origin for imported and exported products. Support origin analysis for manufacturing changes and supplier transitions. Maintain supporting documentation and audit records.
  • Trade Master Data Maintain trade compliance master data within SAP and OneSource. Perform routine data quality reviews and resolve discrepancies. Coordinate updates with customs brokers and business stakeholders.
  • Free Trade Agreements Support qualification activities for Free Trade Agreements including USMCA, CETA, UK-EU, UK-Japan, UK-Switzerland, and other applicable agreements. Collect supplier origin documentation and certificates. Review Bills of Materials and origin calculations supporting FTA qualification. Maintain FTA records and supporting documentation.
  • Compliance Support Support internal and external customs audits. Prepare reports and compliance metrics. Assist with regulatory research and implementation of trade regulation changes.
  • Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to automate classification processes. Support Lean and Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives. Assist with development of work instructions and standard operating procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of trade compliance, customs, logistics, or supply chain experience.
  • Understanding of Harmonized Tariff Classification and Country of Origin principles.
  • Experience with SAP, OneSource, or similar ERP/trade systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
