Senior Backend Engineer:

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will work with our CTO and Tech Lead on a daily basis, focusing on backend web application engineering and supporting the entire team with your full stack background and a strong product focus.

Software engineering is not just a job for you but your passion, and you love to try out new technologies and improve existing products. It is particularly important to us that you are a team player, enjoy working with colleagues in our office, and building the next generations of our platform.

Your Tasks

• Your focus will be backend web application engineering, but everyone in the team works full stack with a strong product focus. That means, we first and foremost build products that bring value to our users.
• You maintain the existing API services as well as build and operate the next generations of our Packmatic platform, which serves our customers, suppliers, and partners.
• We currently use NestJS in the backend. We store our data in PostgreSQL, communicate via REST and message queues, and deploy our apps with Docker in our fully automated AWS cloud infrastructure.
• TypeScript everywhere – but we always choose the best tool for the job and we look forward to relying on your expertise in making future decisions.
• DevOps is not a person; it’s our mindset. You deploy your code to production, you deliver functionality and value to our users – “You build it, you run it!”

Your Experience & Personality

• You are experienced in designing, building, and operating web applications and their infrastructure.
• You enjoy working in a product-focused, cloud-based, high-pace startup environment, because it offers a lot of freedom and opportunities to take ownership and grow.
• You have years of professional working experience with JavaScript/TypeScript or other languages typically found in web application backends.
• You are familiar with relational database systems; having worked with PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Having experience with React or Vue.js and frontend engineering is a big plus.
• Terms like REST, CQS, JWT, or DDD aren’t just buzzwords for you. Having hands-on experience with any of those is a big plus.
• You have experience with test automation, continuous integration & continuous delivery. You know and appreciate the differences between trunk-based development and other Git workflows.
• You are a team player and you are passionate about learning & sharing knowledge.
