Senior Power Trader (Proprietary Trading Desk) — Switzerland (Zurich) A leading energy trading business is building a proprietary power trading desk focused on delivering measurable results across Europe’s most dynamic power markets. This role is being advertised on behalf of a client by a recruitment partner.
Overview of the role
Design, execute, and refine proprietary trading strategies within internal risk frameworks
Trade short- and long-term contracts across the CWE region, with a focus on France and Germany
Navigate major exchanges and participate in cross-border auctions and power tenders
Required experience and skills
Minimum 5 years
in European power trading, including
at least 4 years of proven success
in CWE markets
Strong understanding of the European energy transition (renewables penetration, thermal merit orders, cross-border flows)
Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics or related)
Long term trading experience. Ideally Months ahead to cal end.
Strong quantitative mindset;
Python or SQL
preferred
English required; German, French or Italian advantageous
