You’ll be the first lawyer in the building, and the work is already waiting. Contracts and NDAs are stacking up faster than anyone without a legal background should be handling them. That’s where you come in.
PAVE Space is building LYOBA, a heavy kick stage moving up to 4-ton payloads from LEO to high-energy orbits in under 24 hours.
So, why now? We’re signing suppliers, partners, and NDAs faster than the team can properly review them, and we’re growing from 50 toward 80 people before the end of the year. Right now those reviews land on engineers and founders who have other jobs to do. Within your first weeks you’ll be clearing that backlog and giving the company a single person to bring legal work to.
What you’ll own
Supplier contracts and NDAs: review, redline, and negotiate the standard ones, and keep them moving
Clean templates and a simple contract process, so the basics run without being reinvented each time
The day-to-day legal questions from across the team: you’re the person people can actually ask
Internal legal hygiene as we grow from 50 toward 80: records, signatures, the unglamorous basics done right
First‑pass support on export control and dual‑use questions, escalating the genuinely hard calls
Keeping the work flowing, while the high‑stakes and strategic calls stay with the founders and outside counsel
What we need
Ready to run solo: comfortable being the only lawyer in the building, with the judgment to know what to handle and what to escape. You don’t wing it and you don’t freeze.
Quick and reliable on suppliers contracts and NDAs; this is the core of the job
A few years of hands‑on contract work behind you; the exact count matters less than whether you can own the work end to end
Organized: you keep your own pipeline tidy with no one chasing you
Fluent English (our working language) and French; you’ll work in French with local suppliers, cantonal bodies, and authorities.
Swiss law qualification, or solid grounding in Swiss and EU commercial law
Nice to have: deep tech, aerospace, or defense and dual‑use exposure, export control familiarity, in‑house experience at an early‑stage company, or comfort building simple templates and processes.
You’ll fit right in if
You’d rather clear ten real contracts than write one strategy memo.
You’re happy being the doer, with the founders and outside counsel for the big calls.
You keep things organized without being told to.
You are curious and want to learn the business and the hardware, not just process the paper.
Before you apply This is fully on‑site in Villeneuve (VD); we believe proximity is what keeps us quick. There is no legal function today, so you’re not inheriting a system, you’re the person making one work day to day. The role is execution‑heavy and some of it will be messy before it’s clean. We’d rather tell you that now than pretend otherwise.
What makes that worth it: we’re building hardware that flies to space, and in this field the supply chain is often what slows everyone down. Contracts sit right at the center of it. By owning the supplier and customer relationships and keeping them clean and moving, you’re not pushing paper, you’re oiling the machine and clearing the path so the program keeps advancing. That’s real, visible impact on whether what we build actually gets off the ground.
We are building to ship, grounded on real hardware, real funding, real milestones. Apply if this is you, or send it to the best hands‑on lawyer you know.
