The Opportunity
Pentagon Technical Services is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager to support a major data centre construction project in Germany.
This is an opportunity to join a significant mission-critical infrastructure project, taking responsibility for commercial management and cost control throughout the project delivery phase.
The role will primarily focus on post-contract commercial activities, ensuring effective financial management, cost reporting and contractual administration.
Pre-contract procurement responsibilities will be relatively limited, as a significant proportion of this work will have been completed ahead of the candidate joining the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and financial aspects of the project throughout the construction and delivery phases.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
- Prepare and maintain accurate cost reports and commercial documentation.
- Manage variations, change control and contractual claims.
- Oversee subcontractor commercial management, including valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
- Review contractual obligations and ensure commercial compliance.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to the wider project team.
- Work closely with project management, construction and engineering teams to support successful project delivery.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting in line with project requirements.
- Ensure project documentation and information are handled in accordance with applicable German VS-NfD requirements.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Cost Manager or Commercial Manager within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of post-contract commercial management and cost control.
- Experience managing variations, change control, subcontractor accounts and financial reporting.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.
