About our client
Our client is a long-established company specializing in the design, high-precision manufacturing, and assembly of technically demanding products and serving a broad range of international customers across various high-tech end markets. Backed by a reputable private equity investor, the business has recently completed a phase of operational realignment and digital modernization. They are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the leadership team alongside the CEO. The role combines strategic direction‑setting with hands‑on execution in a dynamic midsize organization. The position is based in the Nuremberg area, Germany.
What the job involves
- Serve as financial managing director (CFO) as part of a two‑person C‑level team
- Act as a trusted sparring partner to the CEO on all strategic and leadership‑related matters
- Responsible for the operational and disciplinary leadership of Finance & Controlling, IT & Digitalization, and HR (adjustments to the division‑of‑responsibility plan possible in alignment with the CEO)
- Joint, holistic leadership of the company together with the CEO within the framework of an ambitious growth strategy
- Further development of a KPI‑driven BI steering system for the company, including cascading KPIs and performance dialogues
- Establishment of a transparent model for the allocation of manufacturing cost and other functional costs
- Ensuring and continuing sustainable cash management
- Assessment and management of investment projects
- Further development of an integrated HR and IT strategy
- Continuation of the company’s digitalization efforts
- Execution and integration of add‑on acquisitions as needed
- Manage stakeholder relationships including shareholders, auditors, banks, works council, and external advisors
Who we are looking for
- University degree in business administration, finance, engineering, or a related field
- Several years of senior leadership experience in finance—ideally as CFO or Finance Director—in small‑to‑mid‑size companies with annual revenues of approx. EUR 30–150m
- Strong experience in the financial steering of small‑batch, high‑precision manufacturing and assembly processes in a high‑tech environment
- Proven expertise in building and using KPI‑driven performance management systems
- High digital affinity and experience leading IT departments
- Solid understanding of process optimization
- Experience with structured financing facilities and collaboration with financing partners
- IT skills: Strong MS Office skills, prior experience with ERP systems (ideally Microsoft Business Central), LucaNet, and business‑intelligence tools
- Language skills: German (native‑level speaker) and English (fluent)
- Experience collaborating with private‑equity firms, knowledge of M&A processes & post‑merger integration, and prior experience working with works councils is advantageous but not mandatory
- Strong structure, analytical capability, and numerical orientation, with the ability to understand complex matters in detail
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong drive, initiative, and a clear “can‑do” attitude
- Hands‑on execution mentality and results orientation
- Modern, inclusive leadership style suited for a mid‑sized company environment
- Excellent communication skills, social competence, positive presence, team orientation, and seasoned facilitation skills, with the ability to rally the team
