Export Clerk (m/f/d) in Wuppertal

Responsibilities

• You will independently handle the commercial aspects of dispatch, customs and export processing
• You will check the legal validity of export transactions and make independent decisions regarding exports
• You will also assess dual-use goods, export restrictions, embargoes and licensing requirements
• Your responsibilities include tariff classification and verification of preferential origin, as well as taking responsibility for applying for export licences
• You will process letters of credit and prepare the necessary shipping and customs documents
• You will plan and coordinate transport arrangements in consultation with freight forwarders
• You will liaise closely with clients, customs authorities, the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA), the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), as well as project managers and engineers
• You will monitor existing export and dispatch processes and ensure that they run smoothly
• You will check and prepare export-related documents such as certificates of origin, invoices and freight documents
• You will act as the point of contact for internal and external parties regarding queries on customs and export matters

Qualifications

• You have successfully completed a commercial apprenticeship as a freight forwarding and logistics services clerk (m/f/d), a foreign trade clerk (m/f/d) or an industrial clerk (m/f/d)
• You have solid experience in the field of customs and export clearance
• You have proven knowledge of export regulations, dual-use goods, embargoes and licensing requirements
• You have a sound knowledge of tariff classification and the verification of preferential origin
• You are proficient in using standard customs and export software solutions as well as MS Office
• You are characterised by a meticulous, structured and independent approach to your work
• Strong communication skills and the ability to assert yourself when dealing with authorities, clients and internal specialist departments come naturally to you
• A good command of written and spoken English is part of your profile
• A sense of responsibility and a high degree of reliability are your hallmarks
