As a Principal Scientist Novel Compounds Biology & Pharmacology, you will work as senior leader defining and driving the preclinical biology and pharmacology strategy for novel compounds.
You will apply in depth scientific expertise, strategic thinking and operational leadership to develop evidence development strategies, plan and budgets to achieve various business goals.
You will lead multi‑functional project teams end‑to‑end, ensuring timely scientific and technical problem solving, decision‑making, and appropriate communications on progress and findings.
You will lead by influence in a matrix organization, ensuring regular engagement with key multi‑functional internal partners at various levels of the organization and with external scientific experts.
- More specifically, you\'ll
- Build fit-for-purpose biology and pharmacology evidence development strategies and operational plans to achieve various business goals and messaging ambitions.
- Build and lead cross‑functional project teams, including external partners/Contracted Research Organizations, for effective implementation and execution of the research program, ensuring continuous alignment with business goals, timely scientific/technical problem solving, decision‑making, and scientific robustness from design to result interpretation.
- Prepare and present scientific and operational program proposals for cross‑functional meetings and governance forums (senior management) for endorsement.
- Provide regular updates on progress, budget status, challenges and risks, raise issues and propose mitigation plans.
- Lead the development of science‑based communications on research outcomes to support internal business decisions, messaging ambition, and external scientific engagement activities (e. g. publications).
- Engage with key cross‑functional internal partners at various levels of the organization and with external scientific experts.
- Keep abreast of deep scientific knowledge to support the development of innovative strategies and provide scientific insight to other research programs.
- Who We’re Looking For
- Ph D & Post-Doctoral Fellow in Pharmacology or Biological Sciences
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in non‑clinical / translational research (e. g. preclinical pharmacology, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, early clinical development) with demonstrated experience of advancing research programs to key internal decision points and evidence-based innovations/product outcomes.
- Demonstrated expertise across multiple health areas (e. g. neuroscience, pulmonary health, cardiovascular health, oral health).
- Strong business acumen gained through industry leadership experience involving scientific and operational leadership
- Sound scientific and operational leadership, critical thinking, strategic mindset, result‑focus and analytical skills/problem‑solving/data driven decision‑making skills.
- Creativity / innovation mindset.
- Strong engagement, influencing and communication skills.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English.
