The Institute for Nuclear Physics at the University of Mainz invites applications for a postdoctoral position in lattice QCD. The position is part of the Emmy Noether junior research group \“Advancing Non‑Perturbative Heavy Quark Physics\“. The successful candidate will work on lattice QCD calculations in heavy‑flavor physics, focusing on the B‑meson sector, including leptonic and semileptonic decays.
The research program includes:
- Independent data analysis;
- Development of HPC code (C/C++ and GPU programming);
- Writing scientific publications and presenting results at conferences.
We welcome applications from candidates who:
- Hold a PhD (to be completed by the starting date) in theoretical high‑energy physics, preferably in lattice field theory or a closely related field;
- Are strongly motivated to work independently;
- Have strong numerical and computational skills.
The anticipated starting date is between June 1, 2026 and October 1, 2026. The position is full-time for three years and paid according to the German TV‑L E13 scale.
To apply, please send a single PDF file containing a CV and a research statement to skubersk@uni-mainz.de and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address. We will start reviewing applications on December 19, 2025.
