Position Overview
Several postdoctoral positions in theoretical particle physics are expected to become available in autumn 2026 at the Institute for Theoretical Physics (ITP) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. The initial appointment will be for a period of two years with the possibility of extension to a third year.
Research & Collaboration
Applicants should have experience in particle physics phenomenology, with special interest in collider physics, higher-order corrections, physics beyond the SM, or development of Monte Carlo programs. Applicants would join the collider phenomenology group, consisting currently of A. Biekötter, S. Gieseke, G. Heinrich, M. Mühlleitner, Anisha, R. Bartocci, J. Boos, C. Borschensky, R. Boto, B. Chargeishvili, D. Fontes, M. Höfer, M. Kerner, S. Di Noi, et al.
The ITP group closely cooperates with the phenomenology group at the Institute for Theoretical Particle/Astroparticle Physics (F. Kahlhöfer, K. Melnikov, U. Nierste, M. Steinhauser, T. Schwetz-Mangold et al.), and with members of the Collaborative Research Center TRR 257, \“Particle Physics Phenomenology after the Higgs discovery, P3H\“, comprising scientists from RWTH Aachen and the Universities of Siegen and Heidelberg. The ITP is also part of the \“KIT Center for Particle and Astroparticle Physics\“ of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
Diversity & Inclusion
We aim to increase the diversity at our institute and therefore particularly encourage women to apply. As a family‑friendly university (familienfreundliche Hochschule), KIT offers part‑time employment, leaves for family‑related reasons, dual career options, and individual coaching for family‑work balance. In case of suitable qualification, preference will be given to applicants with disabilities.
Application Process
Applications (including a research statement, list of publications and CV) should be submitted as a single pdf‑file via our application page https://www.itp.kit.edu/postdoc together with filling in the online form.
Applicants are expected to name two or three referees who will be asked by us to upload their letter of recommendation thereafter.
Priority will be given to applications received by January 6, 2026.
