Job Description As a Project Engineer within the SCE Department (Project Portfolio Management Group), you will contribute to the delivery of complex construction projects at CERN. Reporting to a CERN Project Manager, you will coordinate interfaces with internal and external stakeholders throughout the design and construction phases, ensuring smooth collaboration while meeting technical, scheduling, budgetary, and safety objectives.
Your responsibilities
Participate in feasibility studies and preliminary design of new projects, including the coordination of civil engineering design services with external design offices (architects/engineers) and other equipment/services (MEP building services and accelerator equipment), leading to the submission of detailed designs to CERN users.
Participate in the preparation of invitations to tender, selection of firms, opening of offers and decisions related to designer or contractor selection.
Supervise the execution of civil engineering works on-site, ensuring compliance with contractual design drawings and specification documents in liaison with external consultants (architects/engineers), while monitoring measurements, payments, costs and schedules.
Organise hand-over procedures for civil works, follow up any subsequent work required to ensure compliance with specifications, and ensure that all safety measures are implemented on-site to keep the accident rate to a minimum.

Organised, proactive, flexible and able to work autonomously in a multi-tasking environment.
Good communication and team spirit in an international environment, with an open-minded and diplomatic approach.
Skills
Good knowledge of project management tools, including proficiency in the MS Office suite and MS Project.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language.
Eligibility criteria
You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
You have a professional background in Civil Engineering (or a related field) and have either:
Master's degree with 2 to 6 years
of post-graduation professional experience;
or a PhD with no more than 3 years
of post-graduation professional experience.
You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
