Doctoral students: Pay group 13 TVöD federal ( Link ) ○ limited for 3 years ○ 33.15 hours per week

Your Tasks

In the departments 5.3 \“Coordinate Metrology\“ ( Link ) and 5.4 \“Interferometry on Measuring Scales\“ ( Link ), the development of methods for determining measurement uncertainty when using 3D laser scanning is to be advanced as part of a European research project together with participants from science and industry.

You Will Support Us With The Following Activities

• Analysis and statistical evaluation of large 3D data point clouds
• Derivation of a metric for the systematic assessment of data quality
• Development of models for the use of digital metrological twins of 3D laser scanners
• Development of strategies and methods for parameter acquisition for simulation-based measurement uncertainty determination
• Demonstration and validation of the digital metrological twin on industrial use cases
• Creation of reports and project management
• Publication of research results in the form of journal articles and conference papers

Your Profile

• University degree (diploma/master\’s degree) in physics, geodesy, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or similar
• Doctorate or completed doctorate is an advantage
• Confident programming skills in at least one programming language such as Python, MATLAB and/or C++/C#
• Sound knowledge of signal and data analysis
• Sense of responsibility, high level of commitment and initiative as well as goal-oriented and independent work
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Knowledge of German (B2 level) and English (B2 level)
• Willingness to travel domestically and abroad
