Piper Maddox is thrilled to partner with one of the foremost pioneers in the eVTOL aircraft industry, embarking on a mission to give the public a fully electric, sustainable Aircraft.

Currently, the team is looking for a new Head of Department to guide Aircraft level engineering. Reporting into the CTO, this critical role will see you acting as the leader of a department consisting of Safety Engineering, weight and balance, Aircraft Systems, EMC, Integration and Architecture. It will be a people-focused position with technical roadmap and strategy responsibilities. This role is vital to the completion of their flagship aircraft and the development of future aircraft. As the Head of Department, you will:

  1. Take ownership of the department’s deliverables and ensure alignment with end goals.
  2. Oversee and prioritise product development tasks for engineering teams, assigning responsibilities effectively.
  3. Provide leadership to your team through guidance and mentoring, including managing resources, evaluating performance, and recognising achievements.
  4. Anticipate and address hiring and training requirements to maintain a well-equipped and skilled team.
  5. Act as a communication bridge, ensuring seamless information flow within the department and across relevant stakeholders inside and outside the CTO organisation.
  6. Collaborate with other departments and cross-functional teams to achieve optimal company-wide results.
  7. Oversee and manage the department’s financial budget and contribute towards future technology roadmaps.

We are looking for:

  1. Proven track record in leading high-performing teams (such as Aircraft Engineering or Product Safety).
  2. A comprehensive understanding of Aircraft Engineering and the ability to provide clear direction.
  3. Strong ability to work collaboratively across teams, supported by excellent interpersonal skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams, fostering momentum and engagement.
  5. Expertise in training and mentoring team leaders.
  6. Substantial management and leadership acumen, paired with a practical and results-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  7. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
