I'm currently supporting a leading renewable energy developer in Germany in the search for a Team Lead Civil Engineer to lead their civil engineering function within the wind energy business.
This is a leadership position combining technical expertise, project delivery responsibility, and people management. The successful candidate will lead a team of planning engineers and technical designers while overseeing the civil engineering aspects of wind farm developments from acquisition through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of planning engineers and technical designers.
- Take ownership of the civil engineering scope across wind energy projects from development through to construction.
- Manage the design and execution planning of project infrastructure, including access roads, crane hardstands, cable routes, and associated civil works.
- Collaborate closely with construction and project management teams to develop logistics and implementation strategies.
- Prepare quantity take-offs, technical specifications, and tender documentation for civil and cable construction works.
- Coordinate external engineering consultancies and technical studies.
- Act as a key interface between civil engineering, construction, grid, and other internal stakeholders.
- Support project acquisitions through technical due diligence activities.
- Contribute to project budgeting and CapEx assessments alongside multidisciplinary teams.
- Drive quality standards, efficient project execution, and optimal resource utilisation within the team.
Candidate Profile
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong background in infrastructure or EPC project delivery, ideally within the wind energy sector.
- Proven experience leading and developing technical teams.
- Solid understanding of project management and engineering design processes.
- Experience managing external consultants and multiple project stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness with a strong focus on quality, cost, and delivery.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluent German (minimum C1) and good English skills (minimum B2).
- Passion for renewable energy and contributing to the energy transition.
