Associate Frontend Developer

Associate Frontend Developer

Berlin Vollzeit Kein Homeoffice möglich
Pixel Systems

We are adding an Associate Frontend Developer to our team to support a significant project for our partner, a Berlin based logistics firm. This role focuses on building the functional interfaces that their operations staff uses to track inventory and manage daily shipments. You will be helping us turn complex data into clear, usable tools that keep their business running smoothly. This is a fully remote position where you will work alongside senior developers to build and maintain internal software.

About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small, remote software agency that builds the tools teams actually use. We do not build flashy consumer apps or marketing sites that focus on looks over substance. Instead, we focus on the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and the database migrations that people usually try to avoid. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a sprawling spreadsheet with a real database or get their different software tools to finally talk to one another.
We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes before we start, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything including the code, the documentation, and walkthrough videos when we are finished. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain. We are a team that prefers solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest trends. When something breaks, we are the ones who answer the phone and fix it.

The Role
In this role, your primary task is to build and maintain the user interfaces for our partner's internal systems. You will be working with React to create layouts that are easy to navigate and highly functional. This is not about making things pretty for the sake of it: it is about making sure a warehouse manager can find exactly what they need in three seconds. You will spend your time:

  • Building React components that display real-time data from our backend systems.
  • Connecting frontend forms to our APIs to ensure data is saved correctly.
  • Fixing bugs and improving the user experience of existing internal dashboards.
  • Writing documentation so that our clients understand how to use the tools we build.
  • Participating in weekly demos to show our partner the progress we have made.
  • Reviewing code with senior developers to learn better ways to structure your work.
  • Ensuring that the interfaces you build are accessible and work across different screen sizes.

What you bring
We are looking for someone who is organized and values clear, readable code. Since this is an entry level position, we do not expect you to know everything, but we do expect a strong foundation in the basics. We value reliability and a willingness to work on uncool but necessary systems. You should have:

  • A solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript.
  • The ability to follow a design system and keep UI elements consistent.
  • A logical approach to solving problems and debugging code.
  • The patience to work on legacy code when a system needs an update.
  • Strong written communication skills, which are essential for a remote team.
  • A preference for building tools that serve a clear, practical purpose.
  • The ability to manage your own time and stay on task without constant supervision.

Helpful background
While this is an associate role, there are a few tools and concepts that will help you get up to speed faster. We use these daily, so any familiarity you have will be useful:

  • Experience building basic projects with React or a similar JavaScript framework.
  • Knowledge of how to use Git and GitHub to manage your code and collaborate.
  • A basic understanding of how APIs work and how to fetch data.
  • Familiarity with CSS frameworks or styling libraries.
  • An interest in how data is structured in a database like Postgres.
  • Experience creating personal projects or contributing to open source work.

Working at Pixel Systems
We are a fully remote agency, which means we prioritize asynchronous communication and clear documentation. There are no layers of middle management here: you will work directly with the people building the software. We offer a permanent, full-time position that is paid, and the pay is attractive and competitive for the entry level market. Working here means shipping code that solves real problems for real people, like the logistics teams at our partner company in Berlin. We value a healthy work-life balance and do not expect anyone to be available outside of their normal working hours.
Our team is small and focused on high-quality delivery. We do not have long, drawn-out meetings. Instead, we focus on writing good code, documenting our work, and helping our clients succeed. If you want to work in an environment where your contributions are visible and your work directly helps a business function, you will enjoy working with us. We focus on building software that lasts, and we want to bring on developers who share that practical mindset.
