Frontend Development Internship

We are adding a new developer to our team to help us build out a specialized monitoring interface for a Berlin-based technology partner.

This project involves creating a clear, functional view for their engineers to track system performance and hardware status across several remote locations.

You will be working directly on the frontend components that turn raw technical data into something a human can actually read and act upon.

As this is an internship, you will be working closely with our senior developers to learn how we structure React applications and how we ensure our code remains maintainable over the long term.

About Pixel Systems

The Role

In this internship, you will be focused on the user-facing side of our projects.

You will be building and styling components in React, ensuring that the interfaces we create are responsive and easy to navigate.

Since we are a fully remote team, you will spend a lot of your time writing code, documenting your progress, and participating in code reviews.

You will help move data between systems and display it in a way that makes sense for the end user.

Daily tasks include

• Writing and updating React components for internal dashboards.
• Connecting frontend forms and tables to our backend APIs.
• Testing interfaces to make sure they work correctly across different browsers.
• Cleaning up legacy CSS and ensuring styles are consistent across the application.
• Participating in weekly remote demos to show progress to our clients.
• Helping to document how new features work for the final handoff.
• Troubleshooting visual bugs and fixing layout issues.

What you bring

We are looking for someone who is organized and enjoys the process of building something functional.

You do not need years of professional experience, but you should have a solid grasp of the basics.

We value clarity in code and a willingness to work on un-glamorous projects that solve real problems for businesses.

• A basic understanding of Java Script and how to use it to manipulate the DOM.
• Familiarity with HTML and CSS, including how to build layouts that do not break on small screens.
• Some experience with React, perhaps through personal projects or school assignments.
• The ability to write code that is easy for someone else to read and understand.
• A patient approach to troubleshooting and fixing bugs.
• Good written communication skills for documenting your work in a remote setting.
• A preference for simple, working solutions over complex ones.

While not strictly required, it is helpful if you have some familiarity with the tools we use every day.

This is a paid position, and we provide the support you need to get up to speed with our specific workflow.

Having a few of these skills will help you get started faster

• Basic experience using Git Hub for version control and pull requests.
• Exposure to Node. js and how it interacts with a frontend.
• An understanding of how to fetch data from a REST API.
• Some knowledge of how relational databases like Postgres work.
• Experience using browser developer tools to debug layout or logic issues.
• Familiarity with Type Script or a desire to learn it.
