About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Senior Subsurface Data Manager to join their fully remote global team. This role is critical for ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and effective utilization of all subsurface data generated by the company's Oil & Gas operations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing data management strategies, standards, and workflows to support exploration, appraisal, and development activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to drive data governance and best practices in a remote-first environment, working closely with geoscientists, engineers, and IT professionals to manage vast datasets efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive subsurface data management policies, standards, and procedures.
- Oversee the ingestion, validation, storage, and retrieval of geological, geophysical, and engineering data.
- Manage databases, data warehouses, and associated software applications for subsurface data.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across all subsurface datasets.
- Develop and maintain data workflows and collaborate with IT on infrastructure requirements.
- Provide training and support to users on data management systems and tools.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in subsurface data management and digital oilfield technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geoscience, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in subsurface data management within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of geological, geophysical, and engineering data types and formats.
- Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and data management software.
- Excellent understanding of data governance principles and workflows.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with proven ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
