About the Role
Our client, a prominent entity within the Energy sector, is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in Transmission and Distribution (T&D) systems. This key role, based in Queenstown, Eastern Cape , will involve leading the design, development, and implementation of high-voltage electrical infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of the T&D network, overseeing complex projects from conceptualization to commissioning. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in power systems engineering, coupled with excellent leadership and project management skills. Lead the design and engineering of transmission lines, substations, and distribution networks. Develop technical specifications, P&IDs, and single-line diagrams for electrical systems. Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of T&D equipment. Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination. Ensure compliance with national and international electrical engineering standards and regulations. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for T&D projects. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of electrical engineers and technicians. Collaborate with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, contractors, and utility providers. Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues within the T&D network. Conduct site inspections and ensure construction quality meets design requirements. Contribute to the development of long‑term T&D infrastructure strategy. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. A minimum of 9 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong specialization in Transmission and Distribution. Proven experience in designing and managing high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects. In-depth knowledge of power system protection, control, and substation design. Proficiency in electrical engineering software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, AutoCAD Electrical). Strong understanding of grid codes and regulatory requirements. Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills. Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is required.
