As a Business Development Associate, you will be responsible for driving Klarna’s commercial growth in Austrian market by identifying, negotiating, and launching strategic partnerships with leading merchants. You will manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and relationship building to contract negotiation and go-live, ensuring long-term value creation for both Klarna and our partners. Working closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Product, Analytics, and Operations, you will shape tailored solutions that meet merchant needs and strengthen Klarna’s market position. You will also contribute to defining the local commercial strategy, identifying new market opportunities, and supporting scalable growth initiatives.
**Who you are**
• 3+ years of experience in Business Development, Sales, or Account Management, preferably within payments, fintech, e-commerce, or technology
• Proven track record of negotiating and closing complex commercial agreements with mid-sized to large merchants
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify growth opportunities and translate insights into actionable plans
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior decision-makers
• Structured and data-informed approach to pipeline management and forecasting
• Fluent in English and German, both written and spoken
**Awesome to have**
• Experience working in the Austrian market with strong local merchant network
• Familiarity with payment solutions, consumer finance, or digital commerce ecosystems
• Experience collaborating in cross-functional, international environments
