Role Description This full‑time Technician Specialist role at Portail des Nations is an on‑site position based in Geneva. The Technician Specialist is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining technical equipment and systems used across the facility, ensuring reliable daily audio visual/show control/software management systems operations. The role involves monitoring system performance, performing routine inspections, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and coordinating timely repairs or replacements. The Technician Specialist collaborates with internal teams and external service providers, documents technical procedures, and supports users with clear guidance and training on equipment usage and safety. The role also includes contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, adhering to compliance and safety standards, and providing occasional support outside regular hours when operational needs arise.
Qualifications
Strong technical skills in equipment installation, configuration, and maintenance, with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently.
Experience with system monitoring, preventive maintenance, and documentation of technical procedures and incident reports.
Solid understanding of safety regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices for operating technical systems in a professional environment.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and work with vendors or service providers.
Proven organizational and time‑management abilities, with attention to detail and a structured approach to managing multiple tasks and priorities.
Comfort working on‑site in a dynamic environment, with flexibility to support operational needs and occasional after‑hours interventions.
Relevant technical diploma, certification, or degree (e.g., in electronics, IT, engineering, or a related field), or equivalent professional experience.
Previous experience in a facility, infrastructure, or IT support environment; experience in international or institutional settings is an advantage.
Proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of French or other languages commonly used in the United Nations is beneficial.
