AUFGABEN

Overview

Reporting directly to the Head of Accounting and Tax, the GL Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records, managing fixed assets, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Bank Posting and Reconciliation:

• Processing and reconciling customer payments.
• Ensuring accurate bank reconciliation and posting on open items for further processing by the Accounts Payable (AP) department.

2. Fixed Assets Accounting:

• Managing the accounting for fixed assets, including acquisition, capitalization, depreciation, and disposal.
• Ensuring accurate and compliant fixed asset records.

3. Journal Entries:

• Preparing and posting journal entries.
• Ensuring accuracy and compliance with HGB (German Commercial Code) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).

4. Closing Activities:

• Performing monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
• Ensuring all financial records are accurate and up to date.

5. Compliance and Reporting:

• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
• Preparing and filing various financial reports required by regulatory bodies, tax authorities, and stakeholders.

6. Internal Controls:

• Implementing and maintaining internal controls within the accounting system.
• Safeguarding assets, preventing fraud, and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.

7. Audit Support:

• Assisting with internal and external audits.
• Providing documentation, explanations, and support as required.

PROFIL

Education

• Studies in Tax or Accounting.
• Completed professional education with a strong background in taxation.

Expertise

• Strong knowledge in Accounting and Finance, with expertise in local GAAP; IFRS knowledge is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of taxes, particularly VAT.
• Good analytical and IT skills.

Work Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or auditing, with a focus on GL and fixed assets.

Social Competence

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of integrity and professionalism.

Languages:

• German (fluent).
• English (C1 level).

Travel

• Occasional travel required (Driver’s license class B).

Hierarchy

• Reports directly to the Head of Accounting and Tax.
