We are currently looking for a new team member for our DISC Kindergarten: To extend our bilingual program we are looking for a qualified English Kindergarten teacher with a degree in Early Years Education and interest in Early Musical Education. DISC is the German section of the Changchun American International School.

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining a personal and professional commitment to the school’s philosophy.
• Maintaining professional ethical standards in all areas, particularly confidentiality.
• Work collaboratively with others to develop effective professional relationships.
• Communicate effectively with parents with regards to pupils‘ achievements and well-being
  using the DISC Kindergarten’s systems/processes as appropriate.
• Making this school a truly bilingual learning environment.

Teaching and caretaking:

• Teaching ESL: Beginners and advanced learners.
• Awareness of the needs of children to whom English is a second/third/fourth language
• Engaging children in the joy of singing and moving.
• Supporting skills such as rhythms, rhyming, clapping beats of music and syllables of words.
• Collaborate with the German colleagues on a daily basis, e.g. preparation of topics.
• Using a variety of different playful learning situations and teaching methods.
• Shaping daily routines: telling stories, reading books, conveying table culture.
• Empowering the children to feel responsible and to take action.
• Accompanying the children through their development and support their individual
  targeted needs.

Professional management of self, planning and reflection:

• Execute daily routine in accordance to time schedule.
• Plan in line with the internal calendar.
• Ensure that weekly planning is available and long term schemes of work are planned.

Resources:

• Provide a stimulating, challenging and attractively arranged language learning
  environment, according to age and in a playful and joyful way.
• Develop additional resources to supplement existing ones and for differentiation.

Pastoral Care:

• Maintain good relationships with the children and exercising appropriate authority.
• Be a role model and demonstrate the school’s values proactively.
• Be responsible for the supervision of the students and carry out any other duties as agreed
  with the Head of Kindergarten and the Principal.

Assessment:

• Use an appropriate range of observation, assessment and recording strategies as a basis
  for setting challenging learning environment and for monitoring students‘ progress and
  levels.

Ideal Qualities of an English Kindergarten Teacher in DISC:

• Passion for working with children and interest in childcare and education.
• Being familiar with theories and practices of child development.
• Inner peace, patience, empathy and serenity.
• Ability to work on own initiative and be proactive.
• Willingness to work in a multilingual team and to discuss teaching matters with
  others.
• Regarding songs as a valuable teaching and learning tool.
• Basic knowledge in playing simple percussion instruments and a melodic instrument.
• English Native Speaker or Native Speaker level
• German in any level is an asset, otherwise willingness to gain knowledge of a basic
  level of German

Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Early Years Education

• qualification in ESL
• three years of full-time professional experience in working with groups of infants and
  children aged 2-6 years
