Job Mission
As a Staff Engineer, you’ll provide technical leadership for more complex, longer-term business outcomes. You’ll coordinate the work of a group of engineers, whether that’s within a product team or in one of our horizontal guilds. We are looking for frontend expert with experience building complex web apps from scratch, who has seen he evolution of multiple frameworks and patterns and is pragmatic enough to select the right one for the task. We need someone who can equally turn their hand to building products and to selecting frontend technologies that are scalable, highly performant and provide a great developer experience. While your deepest area of expertise will be frontend architecture, you’ll also be sufficiently familiar with API and backend development to work in a full stack capacity where necessary.
What You’ll Do
- Break the technical ground on large new features and/or new lines of business
- Work seamlessly with product, design, engineering and business stakeholders, including being able to explain technical concepts in a way non-technical audiences can understand
- Be a go-to person for frontend design and architecture review
- Lead discussions and decision-making around adopting new technologies, frameworks or patterns in our codebase
- Be able to consistently apply both technical breadth and product and business awareness in your work
- Consistently turn your deep frontend knowledge into code and architecture improvements. This means finding the right things to do, making well-reasoned proposals, getting those signed off as projects, and executing that work
- Take an active interest in our hiring, not just in interviewing but suggesting improvements to our process, our question banks and how we assess candidates
- Provide technical coaching and mentoring for engineers of any level
What We’re Looking For
- Several years of experience in a Senior or Staff position, with experience executing large technical projects end-to-end (including operational maintenance and v2 development in the product realm)
- Strong track record with full stack development with a particular focus on frontend. Preferably you have experience with our tech stack (Angular, Nest, Typescript, MongoDB) but additional experience with React, GraphQL and other frameworks is welcome.
- Experience working in highly automated, continuously-deployed environments
- Advanced analytical thinking skills
- Self-motivated and communicative
- Deep understanding and strong opinions on modern software development practices
- Fluent English language skills is essential
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation package including Employee Stock Options.
- Enjoy the flexibility of working remotely across Germany or from our vibrant office in Berlin.
- 30 days of vacation to ensure you have time to recharge.
- Annual budget for L&D via LOTARO to support your professional growth.
- Mobility flat rate of €50/month for sharing services like cars, scooters, and public transport for employees based in Germany.
- Discounts for Urban Sports Club or Gym Pass to keep you active and healthy for employees based in Germany.
- Bright open office with an impressive roof terrace, plus unlimited drinks and snacks to keep you fueled throughout the day.
- Join an early-stage, fast-growing startup backed by Tier-1 investors.
- Make a significant impact on company strategy from day one and collaborate directly with the founders.
As an equal opportunity employer, we proudly welcome applications from people of all races, ethnicities, disability statuses, ages, religions, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
