AI Agents to Bridge the Gap between Engineering & Purchasing to reduce manufacturing waste
My co-founder Ian and I combine over 15 years of industry experience, working with companies like SEW-Eurodrive, Terex, Bosch and Carl Zeiss. We co-founded Resourcly, a Project A-backed, industrial tech start-up to help industrial manufacturers streamline complex portfolios to improve EBIT while preventing and reducing idle inventory from being scrapped.
With our solution, we want to solve industry problems that we have tried to address for the last decade in the manufacturing companies we worked for, but that have so far been out of reach. With new technology and AI, that can finally happen.
Complex processes and products, lack of engineering talent and massive labour costs as well as a lack of intelligent automation have remained the industry's most pressing challenge. With LLMs and agents, we finally have the tools to solve this.
Our vision is that future purchasing and engineering processes will be orchestrated and run by an AI workforce - ensuring reliable and cost-efficient procurement and flow of goods in an uncertain and complicated world with finite resources.
We're already live with global manufacturing leaders in Europe
Backed by one of Europe's top early-stage funds (Project A)
Growing fast and hiring exceptional talent to join early
Our goal is to build a small, but excellent team, therefore we are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer. If you are excited to work in a very early-stage environment alongside the founding team, stellar data scientists and engineers, using AI at the product core to solve meaningful problems - please reach out.
The Role
As our Senior Quality Engineer, you will make sure the answers we give our customers are right, and make it progressively harder for us to get them wrong. Some of the largest manufacturers in Europe make purchasing and engineering decisions on what our platform tells them, so a wrong answer costs more than a broken page. The defects that matter here are the quiet ones: a result that looks plausible, renders cleanly, and is not correct.
This is our first dedicated quality hire. You will know the product better than anyone, use it every day the way our customers do, and find what nobody thought to look for. Then you will go deep enough into the code, the database and the data flow to tell an engineer exactly what happened and why. You report to our Head of Engineering and work side by side with engineers, product, sales and customer success. You are not a release gatekeeper: engineers keep ownership of what they ship, and your influence comes from being consistently right about risk. You will shape how quality works at Resourcly from the ground up.
- Master the product and explore it like a customer: Run charter-driven exploratory sessions across every real user journey, user type and configuration, and hunt the quiet failures: empty results, blank values, missing rows, screens that disagree
- Investigate and diagnose, not just report: Read code across backend and frontend, query the database, trace work through our asynchronous pipeline, and separate bad source data from a real defect from correct but confusing behaviour
- Own the bug process end to end: Be the first responder for incoming reports, reproduce before escalating, triage into clear verdicts, bring consistency to prioritization, and close the loop with the person who reported it
- Turn every finding into regression coverage: Land an automated check for every confirmed defect at the cheapest layer that would have caught it, favour invariants that survive refactoring, and keep the end-to-end suite small and pointed at what earns revenue
- Work alongside AI-assisted development: Get oriented in unfamiliar code fast with whatever tools you like, verify every conclusion against the running system before it reaches a ticket, and watch the blast radius of shared changes
- Protect data correctness across the pipeline: Test the full path from a customer's file to what they see on screen, including repeated processing, retries and the contracts between services
- Be the voice of the customer internally: Keep the record of what reaches customers and which layer should have caught it, share a weekly view of what worries you most, and help colleagues test what they ship
- Insatiably curious: You pull the thread on "that looked odd" instead of moving on
- Customer-minded: You test against what the user is trying to do, not just the specification
- Productively skeptical: A green build is weaker evidence than it looks, and you stay constructive about the team while saying so
- Evidence over authority: You persuade with facts, report findings without blame, and change your mind when the evidence does
- Bring startup mindset with high agency: Comfortable being the only person in the role and deciding what is riskiest this week, because building the map is the first job
- Curious about the domain: You want to understand parts, specifications and bills of materials, because you cannot spot a wrong answer in a domain you do not understand
- Precise communicator: A bug report is a technical document, and yours can be acted on without a follow-up question
- You bring deep quality experience: 5+ years in software testing or quality engineering, on a product with real data complexity
- You treat exploratory testing as a craft: Charter-driven, timeboxed, session-based, with a written record of what was and was not covered
- You are fluent in SQL: You write non-trivial queries unaided to verify data state, and you use it daily
- You read and write code: You follow a request through a backend language and a modern frontend framework to where it goes wrong, and write test code well enough to land a regression check yourself
- You understand asynchronous systems: Repeated delivery, ordering, partial failure and eventual consistency are familiar territory
- You test below the interface: API-level reproduction to isolate frontend from backend, plus tracing and logs to connect what a user saw to what the system recorded
- You can own a bug queue: Triage, deduplication, prioritization, and closing the loop with non-technical reporters
- You are fluent in English (German fluency as a strong bonus)
- Optional, but a plus: Property-based or metamorphic testing; testing AI or ML-backed features; search and relevance testing; manufacturing, PLM, ERP or industrial parts data experience
- 3 days in office (Preferably in Mannheim, Germany - Berlin as a potential option)
- Start: As soon as possible
- Compensation: Top of market (We're constrained by bandwidth, not demand - great time to negotiate)
